UPDATE: Just released battery tests reveal that Xiaomi’s new 17 Pro Max, launched in China on September 25, 2025, may not hold its title for the longest battery life. While boasting a massive 7,500 mAh battery, recent evaluations suggest that Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro is already outperforming it in real-world usage.

In tests conducted by Novice Evaluation and WhyLab, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max managed to edge out Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max with a usage time of 13 hours and 36 minutes compared to the iPhone’s 13 hours and 31 minutes. This was achieved through rigorous activities including gaming, YouTube playback, web browsing, and 4K video recording. However, this slight advantage is already being challenged.

Recent benchmarks show that the unreleased Oppo Find X9 Pro has outperformed the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in several metrics, delivering longer screen-on times despite sharing the same battery capacity. In a heavy-use benchmark, the Find X9 Pro reportedly lasted 7 hours and 18 minutes, while Xiaomi’s flagship struggled with 6 hours and 49 minutes. Even Oppo’s standard Find X9, with a smaller battery, managed 6 hours and 51 minutes, surpassing Xiaomi’s performance.

The iQOO Z10 Turbo+ also set a new record with an impressive 7 hours and 31 minutes of usage, further demonstrating that Xiaomi’s lead may be slipping. Additionally, another analysis by WhyLab indicated that the Find X9 Pro achieved an astonishing 9 hours and 30 minutes of continuous operation, leaving the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max trailing at 8 hours and 24 minutes.

These findings are raising eyebrows among tech enthusiasts and analysts alike, sparking discussions about whether Xiaomi can maintain its edge with such a large battery. While the 17 Pro Max’s raw battery size is impressive, it appears to be losing efficiency under heavy workloads, indicating a need for software optimization before its global rollout.

As of now, Xiaomi has not announced an official international release date or pricing for the 17 Pro Max, although sources hint at availability between February and March 2026. Meanwhile, Oppo is yet to officially unveil the Find X9 series, but early performance data is already setting high expectations.

The smartphone battle is heating up, and while Xiaomi has launched one of the largest batteries on the market, Oppo’s upcoming flagship looks set to redefine endurance in the smartphone race of 2026. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
