Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant Join ‘Babies’
Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant have been cast in the upcoming comedy-drama film Babies, which is currently in production in Los Angeles. The film, directed by Lauren Miller Rogen, features Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen in leading roles, exploring themes of parenthood and unexpected co-parenting.
The story focuses on Annie, played by Kendrick, and her husband Aaron, portrayed by Rogen. They are a couple grappling with the decision of whether to have children when their lives take an unexpected turn. Their plans shift dramatically when a newly divorced friend moves in with her four-year-old child, thrusting them into the world of co-parenting.
Babies is produced by AGC Studios and Monarch Media, with filming partially benefiting from the California Tax Credit program. The film’s production team includes Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray for LYLAS Pictures, Stuart Ford for AGC Studios, and Steve Barnett for Monarch Media. Executive producers encompass notable names such as Miguel A. Palos Jr. and Zach Garrett for AGC, along with Alan Powell and Vicky Patel for Monarch, and Sophie Høegh for LYLAS.
The film continues to draw attention with its impressive ensemble cast. Rae is celebrated as the creator and star of HBO’s acclaimed series Insecure and has recently appeared in major films like Barbie and American Fiction. Stevens, known for his role in Downton Abbey, has made recent headlines with his performances in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the Netflix series Zero Day. Cherry, a familiar face from Apple TV+’s Severance, also co-hosted The Great American Baking Show on Roku. Berlant, recognized for co-creating and starring in the A24/Peacock special Would It Kill You to Laugh?, is set to appear in the upcoming film Maddie’s Secret.
As the film progresses, AGC Studios and CAA Media Finance are jointly representing worldwide rights, with AGC managing sales at the American Film Market. The collaboration of these talented individuals and companies paints a promising picture for Babies, which aims to resonate with audiences through its relatable storyline and exceptional performances.
