Marin & Murphy Law Firm Launches After Leadership Transition
The law firm formerly known as Marin, Barrett, and Murphy has officially rebranded as Marin & Murphy Law Firm. This transition, announced on December 5, 2025, reflects a shift in leadership while affirming the firm’s ongoing dedication to client advocacy in criminal defense and personal injury cases across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and South Carolina.
Matthew T. Marin and Stefanie A. Murphy, the founding partners, will continue to lead the firm. Together, they bring nearly 40 years of experience in high-stakes litigation. This restructuring aims to enhance client relationships, courtroom performance, and overall case outcomes. The firm highlighted its successful collaboration, which has resulted in multiple not-guilty jury verdicts and over $15 million recovered for clients within 2025 alone.
“After an extraordinary year, we are investing in the next chapter of our practice and reaffirming our core identity as trial lawyers,” stated Matthew Marin. His partnership with Stefanie Murphy has always been about standing with those accused during critical moments and ensuring effective representation in the justice system. Marin emphasized that their mission remains unchanged, focusing on delivering transformative results for clients facing personal injury and mass tort issues.
Experienced Leadership and Legal Expertise
Matthew T. Marin is recognized nationally as a trial lawyer, boasting over 17 years of experience in criminal defense and serious personal injury litigation. A graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law, he has significantly influenced DUI law in Rhode Island by challenging unlawful enforcement practices. In 2025, Marin was instrumental in securing more than $15 million for clients in various legal matters, including environmental exposure and product liability cases. He is licensed to practice in Rhode Island, South Carolina, Massachusetts, and Connecticut and has been honored by Super Lawyers from 2014 to 2022.
Co-Managing Partner Stefanie A. Murphy is a well-respected figure in criminal defense, known for her negotiation skills and trial strategies. Also a graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law, she has consistently been recognized as both a “Rising Star” and “Super Lawyer” from 2012 to 2025. Murphy’s practice areas encompass DUI defense, domestic violence, drug offenses, and complex felonies. Notably, she secured a full acquittal in a high-profile first-degree murder case in October 2024, illustrating her capability to navigate challenging legal landscapes.
Continued Commitment to Clients
Under the new name, Marin & Murphy Law Firm will maintain its focus on criminal defense, including DUI offenses, drug crimes, and federal investigations, as well as major civil cases for injured clients. The firm remains actively engaged in significant national PFAS litigation, catastrophic injury claims, and emerging mass torts such as Ozempic and Depo-Provera.
Recent civil outcomes showcase the firm’s effectiveness, including settlements of $400,000 and $250,000 for victims of accidents in South Carolina. Their involvement in the historic $15 billion PFAS settlement further underscores their commitment to achieving justice for clients affected by serious legal issues.
Marin & Murphy Law Firm operates across Rhode Island and South Carolina, with additional offices in Connecticut. It stands out for its aggressive representation, exceptional courtroom performance, and a steadfast commitment to securing justice in both criminal and civil matters.
