Lanvin Unveils Eclectic Pre-Fall 2025 Collection Inspired by Venice
French couture house Lanvin showcased its Pre-Fall 2025 collection, blending historical inspiration with contemporary fashion. Under the creative direction of Nicolas Copping, the collection highlights elegant evening wear alongside more accessible pieces, appealing to a diverse clientele.
Inspired by a Rich Heritage
The collection draws from a notable trip made by founder Jeanne Lanvin to Venice in the 1920s, which serves as a key influence on the designs. Copping infused elements reminiscent of this journey, featuring black-and-white ensembles, signature Fortuny pleating, and accents of Venetian red throughout.
Among the standout pieces are voluminous coats and fitted knit tailoring that exude sophistication. The collection also includes more budget-friendly options, such as merino wool sweaters adorned with grosgrain ribbon detailing and Art Deco-inspired little black dresses (LBDs) finished with short, sparkling fringes.
Copping’s vision aims to create a balance between luxury and wearability. He noted, “I wanted the lineup to feel very eclectic,” while also incorporating practical designs for everyday wear. This is exemplified by the oversized coats paired with leggings or loose trousers, reflecting styles observed during his daily commute in the city.
Modern Aesthetics and Accessories
The collection showcases cropped coats in glossy black faux leather, featuring swooping cowl necklines that cater to a younger audience. “I wanted to bring a fresh perspective to classic forms,” Copping stated, emphasizing a desire to engage a wider demographic.
Accessories also play a significant role in the collection. Copping has reimagined the iconic Cat bag by modernizing its hardware, moving away from the traditional mother-daughter emblem. His designs reflect a commitment to both innovation and the brand’s storied legacy.
Venice remains a profound influence on Copping, who appreciates the city’s unique blend of historical significance and modern artistic expression. “It doesn’t really feel like it’s set in time,” he remarked, highlighting the juxtaposition of antiquity and contemporary art.
This Pre-Fall collection not only reinforces Lanvin‘s reputation as a staple in haute couture but also showcases Copping’s ability to adapt the brand’s rich heritage for today’s fashion landscape. With an array of styles that bridge the gap between elegance and practicality, Lanvin continues to captivate a global audience eager for both luxury and accessibility.
