Elon Musk Admits DOGE Efforts Were ‘Somewhat Successful’
UPDATE: In a revealing interview just yesterday, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk confessed that his leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency was only “somewhat successful” and indicated he would not pursue such efforts again. Speaking with aide and conservative influencer Katie Miller on the “Katie Miller Podcast,” Musk reflected on the challenges he faced in transforming federal operations.
Musk, who has made headlines through his roles at Tesla, SpaceX, and social media platform X, shared insights about the difficulties of enacting quick governmental reform. During the discussion, he acknowledged the toll his involvement with the controversial agency had on his companies, stating, “We were a little bit successful. We were somewhat successful.”
When pressed by Miller on whether he would embark on a similar venture again, Musk candidly replied, “I don’t think so. … Instead of doing DOGE, I would have, basically, built … worked on my companies.” Musk remarked, “They wouldn’t have been burning the cars,” alluding to ongoing consumer protests against Tesla vehicles.
Despite the challenges he faced, Musk pointed to some achievements, claiming the agency could save up to $200 billion annually by eliminating “zombie payments” through improved automation and coding. However, this figure pales in comparison to the ambitious initial projections that promised savings in the trillions.
Musk’s reflections come as he experiences a resurgence in success. Following his exit from the Trump administration, Tesla shareholders recently approved a pay package that could position him as the world’s first trillionaire.
The conversation, lasting over 50 minutes, delved into various topics, from DOGE to Musk’s views on artificial intelligence and social media. While Miller did not scrutinize the operational intricacies of DOGE, Musk maintained a level of optimism about its potential impact.
As this story unfolds, it raises questions about the future of governmental efficiency initiatives and the role of private sector leaders in shaping public policy. Musk’s admissions could have implications for how future endeavors are approached within the tech and government sectors.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as we continue to monitor Musk’s ventures and their impact on both the business world and public policy.
