UPDATE: A Tennessee man is facing serious charges after a tragic DUI crash in Montgomery that left one man dead. Just moments ago, authorities confirmed that Cameron Wilhite, 28, has been charged with reckless murder following the incident that occurred on October 18, 2023, at approximately 8:07 p.m. at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Norman Bridge Road.

The crash involved three vehicles and resulted in the death of Frederick Bernard Hill, 54, who was pronounced dead at a Montgomery hospital shortly after. According to official reports, Wilhite was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a Ford Escape before slamming into Hill’s Ford Explorer.

Authorities revealed that Wilhite’s blood alcohol content was a staggering 0.15, nearly double the legal limit, as measured 90 minutes after the collision. Open containers of alcohol were found in his vehicle, and officers noted he was in an “obviously impaired state” at the time of the incident.

Wilhite was taken into custody at the Montgomery County Detention Facility and is currently being held without bond. The charges against him underscore the serious nature of driving under the influence and the devastating consequences it can have on innocent lives.

As this situation develops, communities are urged to reflect on the dangers of impaired driving. Victims’ families are left to cope with the tragic loss, and residents are calling for stricter measures to prevent future incidents like this.

Stay tuned for more updates on this urgent story as legal proceedings unfold.
