AOC Jokes About ‘Stomping’ JD Vance Amid 2028 Poll Surge
UPDATE: New polling reveals that New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez holds a narrow lead over Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical 2028 presidential race. The poll, conducted by The Argument/Verasight, shows Ocasio-Cortez at 51 percent compared to Vance’s 49 percent, prompting her to quip, “I will stomp him” if they face off.
This development comes as both politicians are seen as potential contenders for their party’s nomination, despite neither having formally declared their candidacy. The results indicate a fiercely competitive 2028 election landscape, signaling that progressive Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez remain a strong force nationally.
The poll, conducted from December 5-11 with a sample size of 1,521 registered voters, shows statistical ties considering the 2.7 percentage point margin of error. Ocasio-Cortez’s lead among Black voters stands at an impressive 79 percent and 64 percent among Hispanic voters, while Vance leads among white voters at 57 percent.
When asked about the poll, Ocasio-Cortez laughed off its implications, saying, “You know, these polls three years out…they are what they are.” Her humorous response underscores the unpredictability of an election still years away.
However, recent Democratic primary polls indicate Ocasio-Cortez trailing behind established figures such as former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg. A separate poll suggests she and Vance are tied at 34 percent each against California Governor Gavin Newsom, who leads with 36 percent.
Vice President Vance, reflecting on future electoral possibilities, stated earlier this month on Fox News, “I would say that I’ve thought about what that moment might look like after the midterm elections.” He emphasized his current commitment to his role, stating, “the American people elected me to do a job right now.”
As both potential candidates navigate their political futures, official announcements regarding their plans are unlikely until after the 2026 midterm elections. The urgency of this emerging narrative is heightened as both parties strategize for an unpredictable 2028 showdown.
What remains clear is that the dynamics of this race will continue to evolve, with Ocasio-Cortez and Vance firmly in the spotlight. Stay tuned for further updates as the political landscape shifts in the coming months.
