Leonardo DiCaprio Guides Jennifer Lawrence Ahead of Scorsese Film
Leonardo DiCaprio has shared insights and advice with Jennifer Lawrence as they prepare to collaborate in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film adaptation of the ghost novel What Happens at Night. During a recent episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors, DiCaprio, a frequent Scorsese collaborator, emphasized the importance of preparation when working with the acclaimed director.
DiCaprio and Lawrence previously teamed up in the satirical film Don’t Look Up. In their conversation, Lawrence inquired about what she should know in advance of working with Scorsese, who has directed DiCaprio in six feature films. DiCaprio’s experience with Scorsese has made him a valuable resource for Lawrence, who has not yet had the opportunity to work directly under Scorsese’s direction, despite his role as an executive producer on her recent film, Die My Love.
In response to Lawrence’s question, DiCaprio noted that Scorsese often shares references to classic films to help actors understand the tone and style he aims to capture. “He’s going to give you a lot of film references,” DiCaprio explained. When Lawrence expressed concern about having to watch numerous films, DiCaprio advised her to ensure she has a DVD player, stating, “They usually come in the form of a DVD. And if you don’t have a DVD player, get one.”
The light-hearted exchange continued as Lawrence humorously reacted to the idea of needing to watch so many films. DiCaprio elaborated that Scorsese sometimes organizes screenings focused on specific scenes to convey the nuances he wants from his actors. “We might see some Japanese ghost films for reference, just to get the tone of it. You’re going to have an amazing time,” he assured her.
More details about the film are expected to be released in the coming months. With both DiCaprio and Lawrence’s strong acting credentials, anticipation is building for this collaboration under Scorsese’s direction. As fans await further announcements, their conversation highlights the dedication and preparation that come with working on high-profile projects in the film industry.
Originally reported by Sourav Chakraborty on ComingSoon, this collaboration promises to blend Scorsese’s cinematic vision with the talents of two of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors.
