Blue Jays Surge Past Dodgers 6-2, Even World Series at 2-2
UPDATE: The Toronto Blue Jays have dramatically evened the World Series at two games each following a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night. This urgent win comes on the heels of a devastating 18-inning loss in Game 3, showcasing the Blue Jays’ resilience and determination.
After a crushing defeat in the previous game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. energized his team, reminding them that the series was far from over. “It’s not over yet. They gotta win four. Four games. You have to win four games to win the World Series,” Guerrero declared, rallying his teammates in the clubhouse. He backed up his words with a powerful two-run homer off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning, propelling the Blue Jays to a commanding lead.
Pitcher Shane Bieber, making his World Series debut, delivered a stellar performance, allowing just one run on four hits through five and a third innings. The Blue Jays’ offense responded robustly, scoring four runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory and reclaim homefield advantage, ensuring the championship will be decided at Rogers Centre.
“Coming off what could be a back-breaking loss last night, it was an absolute pleasure to show up today and see nobody changes,” Bieber said, emphasizing the team’s unwavering spirit. The Blue Jays rallied with contributions from Addison Barger, who added two hits and an RBI, demonstrating their depth and talent.
Game 4 also marked a challenging night for Ohtani, who, despite a remarkable postseason, struggled on the mound, yielding four runs and striking out six over six-plus innings. His inability to deliver at the plate—going 0 for 3—was a stark contrast to his previous performances, leaving the Dodgers with only six hits and one extra-base hit for the night.
The Dodgers struck first in the second inning with Kike Hernández‘s sacrifice fly, but the Blue Jays quickly answered back, ending a 13-inning scoring drought with Guerrero’s decisive homer. “It’s a huge swing to get us going, and it gives you some momentum,” said Toronto manager John Schneider.
Game 5 is set for Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, with both teams eager for a pivotal win. The Dodgers will start lefty Blake Snell, while the Blue Jays will counter with rookie Trey Yesavage. This matchup promises to be intense, as both teams vie for dominance in this closely contested series.
As the excitement builds toward Game 5, fans are left wondering if the Blue Jays can maintain their momentum and push ahead against the defending champions. Stay tuned for the latest updates as this thrilling World Series continues to unfold.
