IDF Strikes Weapons Depot in Gaza as Ceasefire Enforcement Resumes

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a targeted strike on a weapons depot located in the Beit Lahiya area of northern Gaza on Wednesday. This operation was carried out in response to intelligence indicating that the weapons were intended for an imminent terrorist attack against IDF soldiers and the State of Israel. This latest action follows the IDF’s announcement that it has resumed enforcement of a ceasefire agreement after a series of retaliatory strikes across the Gaza Strip. The military stated that these previous strikes were in reaction to numerous violations of the ceasefire by Hamas. The IDF emphasized its commitment to maintaining security within the region, asserting, “IDF soldiers in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.”

The strike on the weapons depot is part of a broader military campaign that has seen the IDF targeting various locations across Gaza. According to military reports, the IDF successfully eliminated dozens of terrorists in these operations, which included key figures within Hamas.

The military provided a detailed account of the targets struck, which included three battalion commanders, two deputy battalion commanders, and 16 company commanders. Additionally, the operations targeted observation posts, weapons production facilities, launch sites, underground tunnels, and mortar firing positions.

Among those killed in the recent strikes were individuals involved in the October 7 attack, which resulted in significant casualties. Notable terrorists such as Muhammad Isa, commander of a Nukhba platoon, and Fawwaz ‘Uwayda, commander of a Nukhba terrorist cell, were reported to be among the deceased. Other fatalities included Hatem Maher Mousa Qudra, a Nukhba company commander, along with two individuals from the Mijahideen terrorist organization, Muhammad Abu Shari’a and Nidal Abu Shari’a.

The IDF’s operations had been extensive, with the military stating that they had targeted over 30 locations and struck dozens of terrorists. The renewed enforcement of the ceasefire comes as part of a directive from the political leadership, aiming to stabilize the situation following several days of heightened conflict.
