Russell Brand Critiques Katy Perry’s Romance with Justin Trudeau

Russell Brand, facing serious allegations of sexual assault, has publicly commented on the recent romance between his ex-wife, Katy Perry, and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. During a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on Thursday, Brand expressed his disapproval of the relationship, remarking that he was comfortable with Perry’s previous partner, Orlando Bloom, but had strong objections to Trudeau.

Brand, who has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault in the U.K., stated, “Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I’m glad that her mom’s in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was OK with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? C’mon, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge.”

In April 2023, Brand was charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault. These charges relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2005. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in May, and the legal proceedings are ongoing.

Despite Brand’s professed affection for Perry, she previously indicated a lack of communication since their divorce. In a 2013 interview with Vogue, she stated, “I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.” Their marriage ended after just over a year, with Perry later moving on to a long-term relationship with Bloom. The couple welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in the summer of 2020 but announced their split earlier this year, with representatives confirming the separation in early July.

Perry’s new relationship with Trudeau has generated significant public interest. The couple was spotted on a dinner date later in July 2023 and subsequently went “Instagram official,” indicating a serious commitment after several months of being linked together.
