SanDisk Launches World’s Smallest 1TB USB-C Flash Drive
SanDisk has unveiled the Extreme Fit USB-C, claiming it to be the “world’s smallest” USB-C flash drive with a storage capacity of one terabyte. This innovative device is designed to provide high transfer rates, boasting read speeds of up to 400 megabytes per second.
The Extreme Fit USB-C is specifically engineered for devices equipped with USB-C ports, utilizing the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard for optimal performance. This allows users to enjoy fast data transfers, provided their host system supports the same technology. The flash drive’s compact dimensions measure 18.5 x 15.7 x 13.6 millimeters, and it weighs a mere three grams. Its small size ensures that it does not protrude beyond the thickness of most modern notebooks, making it a practical choice for on-the-go data storage.
Compact Design and Storage Options
The unique vertical design of the Extreme Fit USB-C allows it to remain securely attached to devices without the risk of breaking off. In addition to the 1TB model, SanDisk offers variants with lower storage capacities of 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Notably, the base model with 64GB offers a slower transfer speed of 300 MB/s.
The manufacturer has set the official recommended retail price for the 1TB model at $119.99 USD. All versions come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, ensuring customers can trust in the longevity of their purchase.
Market Context and Implications
As demand for memory products continues to rise, consumers may need to act quickly. Experts warn that prices could increase significantly in the near future due to an ongoing shortage of NAND flash memory. This situation is prompting many tech enthusiasts and professionals to consider upgrading their storage solutions sooner rather than later.
With the introduction of the Extreme Fit USB-C, SanDisk is positioning itself as a leader in the flash storage market, appealing to users who require both portability and performance in their data storage devices.
