Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson Face Investigations and Potential Jail Time

Former Duke of York Prince Andrew is under investigation by London police for alleged financial improprieties, with potential jail time looming. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is also facing scrutiny for misusing charity funds. This troubling situation could lead both to leave the United Kingdom, according to historian Andrew Lownie.

Lownie, the author of “Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York,” stated in an interview with NewsNation that the case against Andrew appears strong. “Andrew is going to be charged with various public offenses and misconduct in public office… he’ll probably go to jail. The case against him is pretty clear… he’s toast,” Lownie remarked.

The investigation into Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, follows his removal of royal titles on November 3, 2021, amid allegations of his involvement with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. At 65 years old, Andrew served as a trade envoy for the UK from 2001 to 2011, during which he reportedly associated with controversial figures across various countries, including Libya, Kazakhstan, and Laos.

Police are also examining claims that Andrew sought personal information about his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, in 2011. Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2023, alleged in her posthumously published memoir “Nobody’s Girl” that Epstein forced her to engage in sexual acts with Andrew on three occasions, starting when she was just 17.

The UK campaign group Republic, which advocates for the abolition of the monarchy, is reportedly considering legal action against Andrew for alleged sexual assault and misconduct while in public office.

As for Ferguson, aged 66, the investigation centers on her alleged misuse of funds from book deals and endorsements intended for charitable purposes. “She’s been basically using charities to make money. So she’s gonna be in trouble there,” Lownie noted.

Both Andrew and Ferguson may need to relocate outside the UK due to the mounting pressure from investigations and public scrutiny. Lownie suggested that Andrew could end up in the United Arab Emirates, drawing a parallel to former Spanish king Juan Carlos, who also left his country under a cloud of controversy. Ferguson, on the other hand, may seek refuge in Portugal or Switzerland, maintaining a small presence in London with assistance from friends.
