Georgia Bulldogs’ CJ Allen Inspires Community with Generosity
CJ Allen, a linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs, recently returned to his hometown of Barnesville, Georgia, not just for relaxation, but to give back to the community that nurtured him. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound redshirt junior, currently the fifth-ranked Bulldogs’ leading tackler, made a significant impact during his visit by donating to local schools and inspiring students.
On his trip home, Allen visited several educational institutions within the Lamar County public school system, culminating in a heartfelt donation to an elementary school. He arrived carrying a large novelty check, symbolizing his commitment to supporting the children who look up to him. “The kids there, they show love and kind of look up to me a lot. I just wanted to show my thanks and support them, to inspire the kids behind me to keep going and chasing their dreams,” Allen stated.
This act is not an isolated incident for Allen. He has previously hosted football camps and engaged in community events during the holiday seasons. Allen expressed his aspiration to establish an after-school program to provide students with resources and guidance for their future. “I just want to help put them on the right track and give them the resources they need,” he said.
Recognition for Leadership and Performance
Allen’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Earlier this month, he was named one of 20 semifinalists for the ninth annual Jesse Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, which acknowledges both athletic performance and leadership qualities. Additionally, he is a member of the 2025 SEC Football Leadership Council and the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council.
Teammate and Georgia’s starting center, Drew Bobo, praised Allen’s leadership skills. “He sets the example for people for how to do it in the weight room, how to do it off the field,” Bobo remarked. “He’s just so dedicated to doing everything right. He leads by example all the time.”
Impressive Stats and Comparisons
On the field, Allen has been making headlines this season. He leads the Bulldogs with 56 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and is tied for the team lead with three sacks. In a recent game against Ole Miss, Allen achieved a team-high of 10 tackles, underscoring his vital role in the team’s defense. His performance has positioned him second in the SEC with an average of 8.0 tackles per game, just behind Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter.
Reflecting on his growth since his freshman year, Allen credits his increased confidence as the main factor in his development. “Just believing in my ability, believing in my work that I put in throughout the week, and just trusting that,” he shared. “That’s the biggest area where I’ve grown as a player, my confidence, which I think is the most important.”
With a total of 173 tackles in 35 career games, Allen is carving a promising path in college football. His contributions extend beyond mere statistics, as he embodies the spirit of teamwork and community service, making him a notable figure both on and off the field.
As Georgia prepares for their next game against Florida, Allen remains a pivotal player, not only for his athletic abilities but for his commitment to inspiring the next generation in his hometown.
