Authorities confirm that the city is aglow with creative light displays, kicking off the holiday spirit as of December 1, 2025. From breathtaking public showcases to residential masterpieces, Denver is embracing the magic of the season with more than 3 million lights illuminating the Denver Zoo alone.
Residents are particularly excited about the ongoing tradition started over a century ago by electrician D.D. Sturgeon, who first decorated a tree to uplift his sick son. Today, Denver continues to celebrate with both nostalgic and innovative light displays.
One highlight includes a stunning home in Highlands Ranch, where a life-sized Chewbacca in a Santa hat greets visitors amidst a vibrant array of lights. This attraction is not just for show; visitors can enjoy hot cocoa on Friday and Saturday nights, with proceeds benefiting local cancer charities.
For those looking for a musical experience, head to a home in Broomfield where 20,000 Christmas lights dance in sync with holiday classics, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that delights audiences of all ages.
In addition, don’t miss the annual Christmas in Color at Red Rocks, where spectacular light tunnels await drivers, creating an immersive experience. Tickets are available for select dates this season.
Moreover, the partnership between Visit Denver and drone company Brightflight introduces free, nightly drone shows over the city. These shows will enchant spectators with stunning aerial displays, visible from several prominent locations, including the Tivoli Quad on the Auraria Campus and the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
The iconic Denver Botanic Gardens is celebrating its 40th anniversary of the Blossoms of Light showcase, transforming the gardens into a winter wonderland filled with immersive light displays. Tickets for this enchanting event are selling fast.
Visitors to Union Station will also be greeted by a magnificent Christmas tree and festive decorations, making this historical site a must-see. Although Civic Center Park is under renovation, the City and County Building will continue to illuminate the skyline with vibrant colors throughout the holiday season.
With so many options available, Denver’s holiday light displays are set to create unforgettable memories for families and friends. Make sure to explore these dazzling sights and spread the joy of the season!
As the holiday season progresses, expect more updates on local events and displays. Share your favorite light experiences on social media to spread the festive cheer!
