GTA Online’s New Update Features Hidden Red Dead Redemption 2 Nod
UPDATE: Rockstar Games has just launched the highly anticipated Agents of Sabotage update for GTA Online, introducing a treasure trove of winter content that players have been eagerly awaiting. Released on December 10, 2025, this update includes thrilling new missions, a variety of vehicles, and the opportunity to purchase luxurious mansions in the vibrant city of Los Santos.
As fans explore their stunning new properties, a subtle yet fascinating detail has surfaced, linking the update to a beloved character from Red Dead Redemption 2. Players can now discover a painting titled “In The Shade” within their mansion’s artwork options. This painting is attributed to the fictional artist C. Châtenay, a direct nod to the eccentric French painter featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Charles Châtenay is known for his humorous and dramatic persona, which unfolds in the Stranger missions of RDR2 known as “The Artist’s Way.” His inclusion in the GTA universe serves as a charming reminder of the interconnectedness of Rockstar’s game worlds. The appearance of his art in modern-day Los Santos suggests a whimsical continuity that players find both delightful and intriguing.
Moreover, players have noted that the “In The Shade” painting bears a striking resemblance to artwork found inside Braithwaite Manor in Red Dead Redemption 2. While Châtenay is not explicitly linked to the Braithwaite family, the developers’ playful reuse of assets adds another layer of mystery for fans to ponder.
This is not the first time Rockstar has intertwined elements from the Red Dead series into GTA Online. Previous updates have featured outfits reminiscent of John Marston, as well as treasure hunts that unlock Old West-themed weapons. The Agents of Sabotage update continues this tradition, seamlessly integrating pieces of Red Dead history into the lavish lifestyles of Los Santos’ wealthiest players.
For those interested in exploring this Easter egg, players can easily find the reference by navigating to the interior management menu of their new mansions and selecting the artwork for the entrance area. It may be a small detail, but it reminds fans of Rockstar’s meticulous world-building and attention to detail.
What’s Next: As players dive into the Agents of Sabotage update, new missions featuring former FIB agent Jodi Marshall and the opening of the Darnell Bros Garment Factory promise even more excitement. The community is buzzing with anticipation, eager to uncover all the hidden gems this update has to offer.
Stay tuned for further updates as players continue to explore the new content and share their discoveries. This latest update not only enriches gameplay but also strengthens the bond between Rockstar’s iconic titles, captivating fans across the globe.
