New Salad Bar in Saginaw Offers Fresh, Custom Lunch Options Now
UPDATE: A new culinary hotspot has just opened in downtown Saginaw, delivering fresh, customizable meals to health-conscious diners. The Salad Bar by Soul Food Sistas officially launched inside the SVRC Marketplace on May 2024, and is ready to serve you now!
Owner Latasha Lawson has infused her passion into every meal, stating, “I’ve poured my blood, sweat, and tears into this.” Known for her catering company, Soul Food Sistas, Lawson transitioned to this vibrant lunch and dinner spot to offer a menu packed with fresh vegetables, house-made proteins, and delicious soups and smoothies.
Located at 203 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI, The Salad Bar is committed to quality. Lawson insists that everything is made from scratch, from the baked chicken to the freshly prepared soups. “My business comes first because it’s my blood, my sweat, my tears,” she emphasized. Customers can choose from a variety of fresh greens, including spinach and romaine, alongside toppings like strawberries, cucumbers, and carrots.
Why This Matters: With growing demand for healthy dining options, The Salad Bar caters to those looking for nutritious meals prepared with care. Lawson encourages customers to ask about additional items not displayed in the small cooler space. “There’s so much more available,” she said, highlighting the variety of choices available.
One standout option is the Kenya Special, created in memory of her late friend, Kenya Collins. This salad, featuring chicken, shrimp, and a medley of fresh veggies, is already a fan favorite! Customers can also build their own salads with a six-step process, choosing from various greens, proteins, vegetables, toppings, and dressings.
The Salad Bar also offers rotating soups, with homemade chicken and dumplings being a highlight—using a recipe from Lawson’s 87-year-old mother, Lettie Donald. The soups, along with sandwiches and wraps, provide diverse options for diners.
What’s Next: The Salad Bar is open on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for taco salads, and from Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lawson is excited about her location within the SVRC Marketplace, a hub for local businesses, and she wishes more people would discover the opportunities it offers.
With The Salad Bar, you can experience a fresh take on lunch that prioritizes health without compromising flavor. For more details, check out their Facebook page and visit them today to taste the difference!
