Shark Bites Surfer in Sonoma County; Boat Capsizes, 3 Rescued
URGENT UPDATE: A surfer was bitten by a shark at North Salmon Creek Beach in Sonoma County on Friday, July 14, 2023, as confirmed by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. The attack occurred while the victim was surfing, resulting in injury to their hand.
The injured surfer managed to reach the shore independently, where the marine unit promptly located them. Authorities are currently assessing the severity of the injuries. This incident underscores the potential dangers of coastal activities in the area.
In a separate incident on the same day, a boat capsized in Tomales Bay, leading to the urgent rescue of three individuals. Local rescue teams quickly responded, ensuring all three were safely brought to shore.
