Trump Demands GOP Rep. Massie Be “Thrown Out of Office”
UPDATE: President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) today, demanding he be “thrown out of office” due to his perceived failures as a Republican. This urgent call comes amid Trump’s ongoing frustration with party members who diverge from his agenda.
In a post on his Truth Social platform earlier today, Trump labeled Massie a “weak and pathetic RINO,” insisting that the people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District deserve better leadership. “Third Rate Congressman Thomas Massie… must be thrown out of office, ASAP!” Trump declared, bolstering his remarks with claims that Massie’s polling stands at a mere 9%.
Trump urged support for Captain Ed Gallrein, a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and fifth-generation Kentucky farmer, suggesting he would be a strong candidate against Massie. “Captain Ed Gallrein is a winner who will not let you down. Should he decide to challenge Massie, Captain Ed Gallrein has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump proclaimed.
The embattled congressman has publicly clashed with Trump over essential issues like fiscal conservatism and government spending, further deepening the rift within the GOP. This latest attack signals Trump’s continued effort to assert control over the party as he prepares for future political battles.
As Trump criticizes Massie, he also took the opportunity to announce a controversial decision to commute the sentence of George Santos, a former New York congressman convicted of fraud. Trump framed this move as a critique of the criminal justice system, stating, “There are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison.” This statement adds another layer to Trump’s complex relationship with party members, as he defends a figure like Santos while condemning Massie.
Trump’s firestorm didn’t stop there. He also directed his ire at Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for failing to adequately support the Republican agenda, asking his followers, “Whatever happened to ‘Senator’ Rand Paul?” The president’s comments reflect a broader concern within the GOP about party unity and alignment on key issues.
The backdrop to these developments is the looming threat of a government shutdown, which poses severe implications for families across the nation. Experts warn that critical programs, including school lunches—vital for food-insecure children—are at risk due to halted federal funding. This situation adds urgency to Trump’s calls for stronger Republican leadership.
As tensions mount within the GOP, all eyes will be on Kentucky’s political landscape. Will Captain Ed Gallrein step up to challenge Massie? And how will these internal conflicts impact the party’s cohesion in the lead-up to upcoming elections? Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
