Trump Slams Nancy Pelosi After Her Retirement Announcement
UPDATE: President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on retiring Democrat Nancy Pelosi, labeling her as “evil” and “overrated” following her announcement to leave the House of Representatives after 40 years of service.
This urgent response comes just hours after Pelosi, 85, shared a video message on Thursday, confirming her decision to retire at the end of her term in 2027. In her farewell address, she celebrated her legacy but did not mention Trump.
Trump’s reaction, delivered via a text to Fox News personality Peter Doocy, emphasized his perspective on Pelosi’s political influence. “The retirement of Nancy Pelosi is a great thing for America,” he stated, further criticizing her leadership and political record.
“She was evil, corrupt and only focused on bad things for our country. She was rapidly losing control of her party and it was never coming back,” Trump texted.
In a pointed jab, he added, “I’m very honored she impeached me twice and failed miserably twice.” Pelosi’s impeachment efforts during Trump’s presidency were significant moments in U.S. political history, though they did not result in his removal from office.
Trump described Pelosi as “a highly overrated politician,” a sentiment he has echoed in past comments, including his notorious nickname for her—“Crazy Nancy.” His remarks have often included controversial references to personal incidents involving her family, adding to the tension between the two political figures.
As Pelosi steps away from her role, speculation is already mounting about potential successors in California’s 11th District. Leading candidates include her daughter, Christine Pelosi, California State Sen. Scott Wiener, and former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Saikat Chakrabarti.
This development marks a pivotal moment in American politics as Pelosi’s departure could reshape the future of Democratic leadership in Congress. With her groundbreaking tenure as the first female Speaker of the House, Pelosi leaves behind a complicated legacy that will be analyzed and debated for years to come.
As the political landscape shifts, all eyes will be on how the Democratic Party navigates this transition and who will emerge to fill the void left by Pelosi’s departure.
