Air Jordan 11 Debuts First Collaboration with Comme des Garçons
The iconic Air Jordan 11 is set to receive its first official collaboration, partnering with the renowned Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons. This announcement comes following the unveiling of the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus x Air Jordan 11 Retro during Paris Fashion Week, where on-the-ground photos showcased a unique design that maintains the essence of the original sneaker.
The collaboration presents the Air Jordan 11 in tonal black and white colorways, emphasizing Comme des Garçons’ commitment to premium, monochromatic aesthetics. While the silhouette retains its recognizable features, such as the patent leather mudguard and rubber outsole, changes have been made to the upper. The typical ballistic nylon has been replaced with full-leather construction, extending to the lace loops, heel tabs, and tongues.
On the lateral side of the shoe, the classic Jumpman logo appears in its usual position, while the medial side features the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus logo, which is also present on the co-branded insole. Michael Jordan’s iconic number, 23, is stamped on the heel, complementing the standard woven tag on the tongue.
Founded by designer Rei Kawakubo in 1969, Comme des Garçons has gained recognition for its innovative designs, particularly in athletic footwear. Collaborations with brands such as Nike, Inc. have included notable projects like the zen garden-inspired Air Foamposite One and various iterations of the Air Force 1. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the Air Jordan 11, traditionally one of Nike’s most exclusive silhouettes.
Looking ahead, it appears that the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus collaboration will not be the only Air Jordan 11 project in 2026. The Whitaker Group retailer APB is expected to release a new colorway named Binary Blue/Binary Blue/Rust Pink/Sail/Steel this fall.
While specific release details for the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus x Air Jordan 11 Retro have not been disclosed, it is anticipated to be part of the fall 2026 lineup, likely launching around the holiday season. Given the premium nature of this collaboration, consumers can expect a higher retail price, consistent with Comme des Garçons’ previous partnerships. Limited quantities are expected to be available at Dover Street Market and select retailers.
As the fashion and sportswear industries continue to intersect, collaborations like this reflect the evolving landscape of sneaker culture, offering collectors and enthusiasts alike new ways to engage with beloved brands.
