CNY Diaper Bank Urges Community to Donate for Holiday Joy

UPDATE: The CNY Diaper Bank is urgently calling on the Liverpool, NY community to donate this holiday season, aiming to support families grappling with diaper needs. Community members, local businesses, and organizations are encouraged to contribute monetary donations to help deliver essential diapers to those facing economic hardship.

Donations can be made securely online at cnydiaperbank.org/holidaymatch2025. To amplify the impact, contributions made by January 1, 2026, will be matched up to $5,000 through a grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation. Every dollar helps provide a day’s worth of diapers for a local baby, addressing a critical need in the community.

“Nearly half of families with young children experience diaper need,” stated Michela Hugo, Founder of the CNY Diaper Bank. “When so many families can’t afford their most basic needs, it highlights a pressing issue that must be addressed.”

The need for diapers is exacerbated by low wages and rising costs, forcing parents into impossible situations. “The CNY Diaper Bank is here to support families while advocating for policies ensuring no parent has to choose between diapers and dinner,” Hugo added.

Diapers, a necessary item for infants, are not included in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Women, Infants, and Children benefits. With the cost of diapers reaching up to $100 per month for a single child, they become an unaffordable expense for many families.

Hugo emphasized the positive impact donations can have this holiday season. “Community members can play a vital role in alleviating diaper need by contributing to our mission,” she said.

The CNY Diaper Bank, New York’s largest diaper bank, collaborates with a network of partner agencies to distribute an average of 200,000 diapers to 4,000 local babies and toddlers each month. Since its inception in May 2016, the organization has provided over 11 million diapers to families in need.
