Bay Area High School Football Week 8: De La Salle Dominates, Upsets Galore

UPDATE: The Bay Area high school football scene erupted with thrilling action as teams battled during Week 8. Fans witnessed stunning victories and nail-biting finishes across various leagues, with standout performances that are already making headlines.
In a commanding display, No. 1 De La Salle crushed Amador Valley with a score of 56-13 earlier today. The game kicked off with an explosive 80-yard kickoff return touchdown by Jayden Nicholas, setting the tone for a decisive victory. De La Salle, now boasting a perfect 7-0 record, showcased their dominance on the road.
In another critical matchup, No. 3 Pittsburg rallied from an early deficit to defeat No. 14 Liberty, 29-12. After trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, Pittsburg’s Isaiah Harrison and Antonio Guzman led the charge, securing their place at 6-1 overall.
Meanwhile, No. 4 Acalanes triumphed over No. 9 Campolindo with a score of 45-28. Tyler Winkles delivered an impressive performance, racking up nearly 300 total yards and four touchdowns, solidifying Acalanes’ strength in the Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division.
The action didn’t stop there. No. 6 Los Gatos avenged last year’s loss against No. 16 Wilcox, winning 35-21 and proving their mettle in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Bay Division.
In a significant upset, No. 8 California ended their losing streak against No. 7 San Ramon Valley, securing a 33-14 victory behind Arjun Banerjee’s stellar performance, which included a 52-yard touchdown pass.
Archbishop Mitty edged out Sacred Heart Cathedral 27-20 in a tightly contested battle, improving their record to 5-2. Menlo School dominated Palo Alto, winning 49-6 and continuing their undefeated run at 7-0.
Santa Teresa remained unbeaten at 7-0 with a convincing 42-7 victory over Leigh, while El Cerrito defeated Salesian 40-14 in a showdown for first place in the Tri-County Athletic League’s Rock Division.
In an intense clash, No. 21 Clayton Valley overwhelmed Miramonte, winning 56-14, with Jhadis Luckey scoring six touchdowns. Live Oak also made headlines, defeating No. 24 Lincoln-San Jose, 17-13, forcing a four-way tie in the BVAL’s Mt. Hamilton Division.
As the season progresses, all eyes are set on next week’s matchups. Notably, Menlo will host Los Gatos in a game that promises to be a thrilling battle for first place.
