Lewisville Partners with Groundwork Outreach to Boost Child Care
Residents of the 75057 neighborhoods in Lewisville may soon experience improved child care services due to a new partnership between the City of Lewisville and the nonprofit organization, Groundwork Outreach. This collaboration aims to identify local child care needs through a comprehensive survey beginning on November 4, 2023, and continuing until December 15, 2023. The initiative, supported by a grant from the International City/County Managers Association’s Economic Mobility and Opportunity Cohort, seeks to address families’ concerns regarding child care provisions.
Groundwork Outreach representatives will actively engage with the community by canvassing the neighborhoods and gathering data directly from residents. This hands-on approach is designed to ensure that the insights collected will inform effective policy changes to enhance child care services. With a population of approximately 16,800 across 6,600 households, the feedback from residents is expected to play a crucial role in shaping future programs.
The initiative was highlighted by Marie Appel, Founder of Groundwork Outreach, who emphasized the importance of child care in maintaining family stability and fostering community growth. She stated, “Child care is a cornerstone for family stability and community growth,” reinforcing the initiative’s significance for local families.
The City of Lewisville is demonstrating a commitment to engaging with its residents on issues that impact their daily lives. Ashleigh Feryan, Assistant Director of the Department of Neighborhood Services & Inspection Services, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting, “We are excited to partner with Groundwork Outreach to reach families directly in their own neighborhoods and in their own voices.” This collaboration reflects the city’s dedication to listening to the needs of its citizens and facilitating access to vital services.
As the survey progresses, the City of Lewisville aims to use the collected data to drive policy decisions and improve child care availability in the area. By prioritizing community feedback, the city hopes to create programs that are responsive to the actual needs of families, ultimately enriching the quality of life for residents in the 75057 neighborhoods.
