Summit County Historical Society Offers Unique Halloween Experience

The Summit County Historical Society is set to host a distinctive Halloween celebration with its Perkins Paranormal Trick-Or-Treat event. Scheduled for October 31 from 17:30 to 19:00, this family-friendly gathering will take place at the historic Perkins Stone Mansion in Akron, Ohio.

Attendees can expect an enchanting experience featuring staff and volunteers dressed in costumes, as well as spooky exhibits and captivating stories. Trick-or-treat stations will be established throughout each room of the mansion, creating a fun and immersive atmosphere for families. The cost for participation is $5 per family, making it an accessible option for those looking to celebrate Halloween in a new way. Costumes are encouraged, although masks will not be permitted to ensure safety and visibility.

The Perkins Stone Mansion, which dates back to 1837, was constructed by Colonel Simon Perkins, the son of General Simon Perkins, who is recognized as the founder of Akron. The mansion is now operated by the Summit County Historical Society as a house museum, showcasing the life and legacy of the Perkins family over three generations. Parking for the event is available in the paved lot at 465 S. Portage Path, as well as at the corners of S. Portage Path and Copley roads. Additional parking can be found at the John Brown House, located at 514 Diagonal Road, although the John Brown House itself will not be open for this event.
