North Royalton High School Choirs Spread Holiday Cheer Through Caroling

North Royalton High School Choirs brought festive joy to their community on December 17, 2025, through an annual caroling event. Under the direction of Sydney Jahingen, choir students visited several local venues, including North Royalton Elementary School and various senior living facilities, to share holiday music and connect with residents.

The day was filled with heartfelt performances that fostered intergenerational connections. At each stop, choir members engaged with audiences, exchanging stories and reflecting on the significance of music during the holiday season. In another significant event, Near West Theatre and the Baldwin Wallace University Music Theatre Program are set to present a co-production of the Tony Award-winning musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, from January 22 to January 25, 2026. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for both organizations as they unite to enhance community engagement through the arts.

The production, directed and choreographed by Jennifer Hemphill, features a unique blend of humor and heartfelt storytelling as six adolescents compete in a spelling bee. With an emphasis on audience participation, the show promises a fresh experience at each performance. The limited run will include two rotating casts, showcasing the talent of emerging artists.

Wanyerka expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement, stating, “I know the zoo will be extremely pleased that NRHS cared so much.”

Additionally, the American Red Cross is hosting a community blood drive at the local library on January 16, 2026. From 10:00 to 15:00, residents can donate blood, a vital resource for patients in need of medical treatments. The organization encourages eligible community members to schedule an appointment, emphasizing the importance of donations during the winter months when blood supplies are typically low.
