Thailand Launches NEXUS AI Batch 2 to Cultivate AI Leaders
Chulalongkorn University and Degree Plus Co., Ltd. have officially launched the second batch of the “NEXUS AI” executive program, designed to equip senior executives from both public and private sectors in Thailand with essential artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge. This initiative follows the success of the inaugural cohort, which demonstrated a growing readiness among Thai leaders to embrace AI as a crucial element in organizational management and policymaking.
The NEXUS AI program aims to position Thailand competitively in the global AI landscape. As countries worldwide increasingly integrate AI into their economic frameworks, the program seeks to foster a sustainable future for Thailand by empowering leaders to leverage AI strategically.
Strengthening AI Leadership in Thailand
The first cohort of NEXUS AI attracted over 50 top executives, igniting significant AI adoption at various organizations. This positive response reflects a national recognition of the importance of AI in enhancing competitiveness. The launch of Batch 2 signifies a broader objective—shifting the focus from individual organizational advancements to fostering collaboration at a national level.
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, emphasized the importance of this initiative. He stated, “Today, AI is no longer a ‘competitive advantage’—it is a ‘necessity.’ Countries that can strategically develop and apply AI will create added value and enhance their competitiveness.” He also highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering leaders who can effectively utilize AI to elevate organizations and drive national progress.
Associate Professor Dr. Manoj Lohatepanont, Program Chair, noted that Batch 2 is designed to be more intensive, incorporating feedback from the first cohort to ensure participants gain a comprehensive understanding of AI. This approach focuses on practical applications that yield tangible results.
Collaborative Efforts for National Impact
The NEXUS AI program is a collaborative effort between Chulalongkorn University, specifically its Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, and Degree Plus Co., Ltd. It also involves key partnerships with major technology firms, including Alibaba Cloud Thailand, Amazon Web Services (Thailand), Google Cloud Thailand, Microsoft (Thailand), and Tencent Cloud, among others.
This collaboration highlights the synergy between academia, government, and global technology companies aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Thai leaders. The NEXUS AI program serves as a pivotal platform for shaping the direction of AI adoption in Thailand, equipping leaders to strengthen the nation’s global competitiveness.
