Brandi Carlile Steps in as Host for Saturday Night Live’s New Episode

Brandi Carlile is set to host this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, stepping in as a surprise replacement for actor Miles Teller. The announcement comes alongside newly released promotional clips featuring both Carlile and Teller, showcasing a humorous exchange regarding a recent haircut that Teller seemingly overlooked.
In one of the promos, comedian Ashley Padilla confronts Teller about his failure to notice her new hairstyle, exclaiming, “I got a haircut, and you haven’t said anything about it!” Teller, appearing somewhat confused, responds, “Yeah, sorry, I think I didn’t notice, Ashley, because we’ve never met before.” The light-hearted banter draws attention to Carlile, who jumps in to compliment Padilla, saying, “I noticed. The second I saw you, I knew you had that new-haircut glow.” Padilla then jokingly declares Carlile as the new host, to which Carlile enthusiastically responds.
Teller, visibly uncertain about the shift, asks, “She’s joking, right?” But Padilla insists she is serious, adding, “I hope you can sing.” Teller, who has previously showcased his vocal talent, shrugs off the comment, affirming, “I can sing.” His musical abilities were highlighted back in 2016 when country star Keith Urban invited him onstage to perform a duet during a concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Brandi Carlile is no stranger to the SNL stage, making this appearance her fourth time as a musical guest and her second this year. She previously performed alongside Elton John in April, promoting songs from their collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels? This time, she is set to promote her new solo album, Returning to Myself, which was released recently.
This episode will also mark Teller’s second time hosting the iconic show. He made his debut in 2022, and this appearance comes ahead of the release of his upcoming sci-fi romantic comedy, Eternity, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 26, 2023, co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner.
Fans can catch the episode of Saturday Night Live airing at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT on NBC, with streaming available on Peacock. The upcoming episode promises to deliver a blend of comedy and music, showcasing Carlile’s talents and interaction with Teller in a lively setting.
