Passengers traveling through various airports in the United States often face significant walking distances from the main entrance to their gates. A new analysis by KURU Footwear, a brand specializing in pain-relief footwear, has revealed the airports that require the most and least walking. The study measured distances based on airport maps and terminal data, providing valuable insights for travelers.

According to the analysis, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport stands out as the airport with the longest walking distance, requiring travelers to cover an impressive 1.5 miles to reach the farthest gate. In second place is Denver International Airport, with a walking distance of 1.14 miles. Following closely are Washington Dulles International Airport and Pittsburgh International Airport, with walking distances of 0.97 miles and 0.86 miles, respectively. Rounding out the top five is Orlando International Airport, where passengers walk approximately 0.7 miles to their gates.

Travelers may want to consider their footwear choices, especially when navigating these extensive terminals. Comfortable shoes can make a significant difference, particularly for those who may need to walk long distances during their travels.

On the other end of the spectrum, some airports offer much shorter walking distances. Trenton–Mercer Airport boasts the shortest distance at just 0.03 miles from the entrance to the gate. This is closely followed by Seattle Paine Field International at 0.04 miles and Tweed New Haven Airport at 0.05 miles. Lihue Airport on the island of Kauaʻi and Harrisburg International Airport also feature among the airports with the least walking, measuring 0.06 miles and 0.12 miles, respectively.

Travelers planning their trips might find these insights helpful when preparing for airport navigation. With varying distances to cover, being equipped with the right footwear can enhance the travel experience, ensuring comfort during what can often be a stressful time.
