Short Interest in iShares Interest Rate Hedged Corporate Bond ETF Plummets 99.1%

The short interest in the iShares Interest Rate Hedged Corporate Bond ETF (NYSEARCA:LQDH) has dramatically decreased, dropping by a staggering 99.1% by mid-December. As of December 15, 2023, short interest totaled just 5,561 shares, a significant decline from the previous total of 606,980 shares reported on November 30, 2023. This shift indicates that only 0.1% of the ETF’s shares are currently short sold, resulting in a short-interest ratio of just 0.1 days based on an average trading volume of 45,122 shares.

Institutional Investors Adjust Positions

In recent weeks, various institutional investors have altered their holdings in the iShares Interest Rate Hedged Corporate Bond ETF. The Bank of Montreal Can increased its position by 0.6% during the second quarter, now owning 53,708 shares valued at approximately $4.96 million after acquiring an additional 336 shares.

PNC Financial Services Group Inc. made a more substantial move, enhancing its stake by 25.5% in the third quarter. PNC now holds 1,712 shares worth around $160,000, following the purchase of 348 additional shares in the last quarter. Similarly, Wealthcare Advisory Partners LLC expanded its holdings by 8.4% during the second quarter, bringing its total to 4,513 shares valued at $417,000 after acquiring 351 more shares.

Diversify Advisory Services LLC increased its position by 16.1% in the third quarter, now owning 2,539 shares valued at $237,000 after purchasing an additional 352 shares. Vista Cima Wealth Management LLC also increased its holdings by 14.9% in the first quarter, now controlling 2,734 shares worth $252,000 after acquiring 354 additional shares.
