Livingston Prepares for Holiday Celebrations and New Year Events
As the festive season approaches, residents of Livingston are gearing up for a series of holiday celebrations and safety campaigns. The community is preparing to welcome Christmas and New Year’s Day with various events while emphasizing safe driving practices during this busy time.
In an effort to promote road safety, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced an increase in patrols through New Year’s Day as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. This initiative aims to deter impaired driving, ensuring the safety of all motorists in the area. Specific locations for these patrols will not be disclosed in advance. Funding for officer overtime during this campaign is supported by a federal grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
The holiday spirit is alive in Denham Springs with events like Grinchmas in the Village, scheduled for December 20. This festive gathering will take place from 10:00 to 19:30 along Range Avenue in the Antique Village. Attendees can participate in the Jingle Bell event, which includes a drawing for gift certificates. Additionally, a Grinch costume contest will occur from 17:00 to 18:00 at MT Lockers.
For those looking to enjoy a dazzling display of lights, the Merriest Mile Christmas Light Drive-thru remains open until December 31. Local community engagement continues with weekly cornhole tournaments held every Friday at the Walker Community Center. Participants can compete in two divisions, with entry fees of $10 for the lower division and $20 for the upper division. For more information, interested individuals can contact the center at (225) 305-7183.
As the city looks ahead, the Krewe of Denham Springs is set to host its Mardi Gras parade on January 31, 2026, starting at 15:00 through the historic Denham Springs Antique Village. This event promises to be a highlight of the new year’s festivities.
The Livingston Chamber of Commerce is also preparing for its installation of board members and committees on January 7, followed by its annual meeting and awards banquet on January 22. A gala event is planned for March 13, further engaging the community in its activities.
