The annual NASCAR season opener, the Cook Out Clash, has been postponed to Monday due to severe winter weather conditions in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A significant snowfall, estimated to be around a foot, has disrupted the racing schedule, forcing the cancellation of more than half of the weekend’s planned events. The main event is now set to take place at Bowman Gray Stadium at 18:00 local time.

Temperatures in Winston-Salem remain unseasonably low, with current readings in the teens and expected to rise only to the upper 20s on Monday. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has urged residents and visitors to avoid travel on icy roads, raising concerns about attendance for the event. If conditions do not improve, the Clash might be held in front of a reduced crowd.

Despite the weather challenges, NASCAR is determined to deliver an exciting start to the season. Fans can catch the action with the following schedule: practice and qualifying will start at 11:00 on FS2, followed by the Last Chance Qualifier at 16:30 on Fox, leading up to the main event at 18:00.

Looking ahead, the official NASCAR regular season will kick off in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the renowned Daytona International Speedway. The lineup of events includes crucial qualifying races and series events scheduled from February 11 to February 15, culminating in the prestigious Daytona 500 on February 15 at 14:30 on Fox.

The upcoming days will be a test of patience and resilience for both the teams and fans as they navigate these winter conditions. As anticipation builds, NASCAR remains hopeful that the weather will clear, allowing for a thrilling start to the racing season.
