RTS Secures Full Ownership of EVO, Promises Continuity in Legacy
RTS, a subsidiary of Qiddiya City, has announced its full acquisition of the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) and its associated fighting game events. This development follows a series of ownership transitions that began in August 2025, when Sony indicated its intention to withdraw from ownership responsibilities. With this latest move, RTS assumes complete control over the EVO brand, marking a significant shift in the landscape of competitive gaming.
The announcement was made public through a press release from the EVO team earlier this week. As NODWIN Gaming steps back from its role as co-owner, it will still collaborate with EVO on marketing initiatives. This arrangement aims to maintain the brand’s visibility and engagement in the gaming community. Key leadership figures will remain in their positions to uphold EVO’s legacy and values, as emphasized by RTS CEO Stuart Saw.
The transition period for EVO began in earnest with Sony’s exit announcement in August 2025. At that time, RTS was established as a co-owner, supported by the Saudi Arabian entertainment initiative Qiddiya City, which operates under the umbrella of the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC). NODWIN Gaming entered the partnership as the other co-owner, still retaining ties to Sony, which had initially provided some backing.
As of now, following Qiddiya’s complete acquisition of RTS, the two entities hold 100 percent ownership of the EVO brand. This decision underscores a commitment to preserving EVO’s established identity and values, even as it transitions to new management.
Looking ahead, with EVO Japan 2026 and EVO 2026 on the horizon, fans worldwide are eager to see how the event evolves. RTS has pledged that the core principles and the spirit of competition that define EVO will remain intact. The global gaming community will be closely monitoring developments as RTS navigates this new chapter in EVO’s storied history.
As this acquisition unfolds, stakeholders and fans alike will keep an eye on how these changes will influence the future of EVO and its events. The commitment to continuity and excellence in competitive gaming remains a focal point as RTS positions itself at the helm of one of the most renowned brands in esports.
