Teyana Taylor has shared her heartfelt reaction to a playful remark made by Julia Roberts at the 2026 Golden Globes. During the awards ceremony on January 11, the two stars met on the red carpet, where Roberts jokingly told Taylor to “eat a sandwich.” In a clip that has since gained significant attention online, Roberts described Taylor as “teeny tiny” and suggested that she could use a little more sustenance.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on January 14, Taylor expressed her appreciation for Roberts’ comments. “I took it as a compliment,” she said, defending her fellow actress amid criticism from some who interpreted the comment differently. Taylor recounted, “She told me I needed a sandwich because she couldn’t find my waist. It was so cute.”

Emotional Encounter on the Red Carpet

Taylor, who won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture that night, recalled the magical moment of meeting one of her long-time idols. “It was so amazing. I just remember her parting the sea for me,” Taylor said, likening the experience to a biblical scene. “She was floating. It was so scary how perfectly she was floating. I just dived into her arms. It was just the cutest moment and I started crying.”

This emotional encounter left a deep impression on Taylor, who described how surreal it felt to be in Roberts’ presence. “It was too much happening tonight. She parted the sea for me,” Taylor said, noting the extraordinary way Roberts commanded attention as she approached. “She told everybody to move out of the way. Oh, my God, it was scary. It looked so magical.”

During her acceptance speech, Taylor expressed her gratitude, telling the audience, “My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.”

Reflecting on Gratitude and Connections

After the Golden Globes, Taylor attended the New York City premiere of her film The Rip, where she elaborated on the importance of gratitude in her life. “I think it’s so important, because I think through everything and through blessings, these are things that we pray for,” she explained. “When you get that, you should always be grateful and filled with gratitude. That’s what it feels like for me.”

In her appearance on The Tonight Show, Taylor also addressed a viral moment involving her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. She clarified that while they did discuss the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, the conversation captured on camera was not directed at her. “So apparently he had two KPop Demon Hunters conversations that night,” she joked, adding a light-hearted remark about feeling a hint of jealousy over DiCaprio’s interactions.

Taylor’s blend of humor and sincerity reflects her dynamic personality and the joy she felt during a night filled with significant achievements and memorable encounters.
