Bullard ISD Appoints Dr. Micah Dyer as Sole Finalist for Superintendent

The Bullard Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees has named Dr. Micah Dyer as the sole finalist for the position of superintendent. This decision was made during a special meeting held on January 9, 2024, marking a significant step in the district’s leadership transition.

Dr. Dyer expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “We are blessed and excited to have this opportunity to become part of the Bullard Panther family. Moving back to East Texas has always been our plan. This is a homecoming, and we look forward to working with Bullard ISD to provide amazing opportunities for the children.” His commitment to enhancing educational prospects for students is evident in his previous roles.

Dr. Dyer’s Impressive Background

Prior to joining Bullard ISD, Dr. Dyer served as the superintendent of Cuero ISD since 2017. Under his leadership, Cuero ISD achieved its first-ever Texas Education Agency (TEA) “A” rating. His tenure is notable for the establishment of numerous Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, making Cuero ISD a leader in the region. The district consistently received one of the highest Career, College, and Military Readiness (CCMR) ratings in the area, as reported by Bullard ISD.

Before his time in Cuero, Dr. Dyer spent seven years as superintendent at Lovelady ISD, where the district earned an “Exemplary” rating, a distinction held by only a few in the region. His educational career also includes various roles from teacher to principal across several districts including Kirbyville, Trinity, Kennard, and Huntington.

Educational Credentials and Personal Life

Dr. Dyer’s academic background is robust. He began his studies at Kilgore College before obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. He furthered his education by earning both a master’s and a doctorate from Stephen F. Austin State University.

He and his wife, Jaime, are parents to three children: London (19), Landri (17), and Lainey (14). This family-oriented approach aligns with Dr. Dyer’s commitment to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for students.

As Bullard ISD prepares for Dr. Dyer’s formal hiring, interim superintendent Jan Hill will continue in her role during the state-mandated 21-day waiting period following the board’s decision.
