Community Remembers Faamuamua Gago, Beloved Matriarch

Faamuamua Gago, a cherished mother and wife, passed away on December 27, 2025, in Fairfield, California, at the age of 63. Known affectionately as “Mua,” she left an indelible mark on those around her, embodying the spirit of love and compassion throughout her life.

Born in 1962 on the island of Western Samoa, Mua spent her formative years immersed in her family’s rich cultural heritage. Her upbringing on the picturesque island laid the foundation for her deep commitment to family and community. Mua became a mother at a young age, which ignited her well-known role as a devoted caretaker.

Mua’s journey took a transformative turn when she moved to the United States after meeting an American helicopter mechanic, who captivated her heart. In her new home, she dedicated her life to spreading joy, kindness, and warmth. Whether working as a caretaker or sales associate, Mua balanced her professional responsibilities with nurturing her sons whenever custody permitted.

Her active participation in church and her pursuit of meaningful relationships demonstrated her commitment to fostering connections. Mua often shared stories about her expanding Samoan family, delighting in discovering new relatives. This passion for family was a constant in her life, reinforcing her identity and sense of belonging.

In addition to her nurturing spirit, Mua had a playful side. She found joy in the thrill of placing bets, often seen humorously sifting through her handbag filled with colorful bingo markers, remnants of her good-natured gambling. Her vibrant personality and zest for life inspired many, as she embraced each moment with enthusiasm and acceptance.

Mua’s legacy is not only reflected in her unwavering love for her family but also in the lessons she imparted. “Don’t worry about me, just try to take care of yourself,” she would often remind her loved ones, emphasizing self-care and resilience.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Wright and Alan Wright, her daughters, Julie McComick and Elsie Fruean, her spouse Kyle Kazemba, and numerous grandchildren. Mua is preceded in death by her parents, Senileva Gago and Gago Gago.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on February 22, 2026, at The Four Star Theater located at 2200 Clement Street, San Francisco, CA.
