Trump Criticizes Clooney Over French Citizenship Announcement

US President Donald Trump has publicly condemned actor George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, following their recent acquisition of French citizenship. The announcement, made by the French government, recognized the couple for their contributions to France’s international influence and cultural outreach.

Clooney, who spoke to Esquire earlier this year, expressed his desire to raise his children away from the Hollywood spotlight. The couple purchased an estate in Brignoles, France, in 2021, seeking a more tranquil environment for their family.

Trump took to social media platform Truth Social to voice his disapproval of the Clooneys’ new citizenship. He began his post with the remark, “Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France.” He criticized the French government for what he described as “horrendous handling of immigration,” drawing a parallel to his views on the Biden administration’s policies.

In his social media remarks, Trump referenced Clooney’s past comments urging former President Joe Biden not to seek a second term, following what many deemed a lackluster debate performance against Trump in 2020. He also mentioned Clooney’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that this decision contributed to the Democratic party’s challenges.

“Remember when Clooney, after the now infamous debate, dumped Joe during a fundraiser, only to go onto the side of another stellar candidate, Jamala(K!), who is now fighting it out with the worst governor in the Country, including Tim Walz and Gavin Newsom,” Trump stated, underscoring his discontent with the actor’s political affiliations.

Furthermore, Trump criticized Clooney’s acting career, claiming he received more attention for his political views than for his films. “Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies,” Trump remarked, suggesting that Clooney was “just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics.” He concluded with a familiar refrain, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The Clooneys’ decision to obtain French citizenship has sparked a mix of reactions, reflecting the ongoing tensions between celebrity culture and political discourse. The couple’s prominence in international humanitarian efforts may have influenced the French government’s recognition.

As the political landscape evolves, this incident highlights the intersections of celebrity, politics, and public opinion. The Clooneys continue to maintain their commitments to cultural outreach while navigating the complexities of their public personas.
