Kingsport Speedway Hosts Exciting King Cobra 350 This Saturday

Kingsport Speedway will conclude its 2025 season with the highly anticipated King Cobra 350 on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The event features a thrilling 150-lap Late Model race, with a pause for intermission after the first 75 laps. Fans can also look forward to 50-lap races for the Street Stock, Pure 4, Mod 4, and Crown Vic classes, making it a full day of competitive racing.
Grandstands open at 11:00 a.m., allowing fans to enjoy practice sessions before the action heats up. Qualifying begins at 12:30 p.m., with the races officially starting at 14:00. In light of last week’s sold-out crowd for the annual Tour of Destruction, Kingsport Speedway anticipates another strong turnout for this season-ending event.
Highlights from Newport Speedway and Cherokee Race Park
Newport Speedway recently held its Support Division Appreciation Night, where Kingsport drivers showcased their dominance in the Pure 4 category. John Ketron, the NASCAR Division 3 National Champion, secured his tenth victory in just twelve races at the Newport track. Other Kingsport competitors, including Steven Watts, David “Animal” Trent, and Dallas Morelock, claimed the second through fourth positions, while North Carolina’s Justin Marlar rounded out the top five.
In the Street Stock division, North Carolina driver Alan Rich swept the twin features, with Rusty Clendenin from Mt. Carmel and Chris Tunnell following closely behind. The Legends races had Brad Shifflett winning the first event, while Aidan Walker took the second race, showcasing the competitive spirit of the evening.
Cherokee Race Park also hosted notable events last Saturday, including the Makinna Smith Memorial. Shane Gibson from Hancock County triumphed in the Pro (Box) final, with Wayne Bailey finishing as runner-up. Todd McKinney achieved victory in the No Box category, defeating Chris Yates. The Motorcycle victory went to Kirkland Barnard, while Isaac Sturgill claimed the Junior Dragster win.
Upcoming Events at North Wilkesboro Speedway
Looking ahead, North Wilkesboro Speedway is set to host a triple-header featuring the CARS Tour and SMART Modified Tour on Saturday. The event includes the Crossroads Harley-Davidson 125 for Late Model Stock Cars and the Northwest Automotive 100 for Pro Late Models. Notably, NASCAR Hall of Famer Kevin Harvick and his son Keelan will compete in the Pro Late Model category, while Ryan Newman, a former Daytona 500 winner, leads the SMART Modified field.
Prior to the racing action, the Moonshiners & Racers Reunion will take place starting at 09:00, featuring a car show and opportunities to meet many of stock car racing’s early pioneers. Organizers expect a significant turnout as fans gather to celebrate the sport’s rich history and enjoy a full day of racing excitement.
