Originally set for a theatrical debut on March 27, 2026, the film will now premiere on August 28, 2026. This new date positions it against other anticipated releases, including the long-delayed Coyote vs. Acme and Cliffhanger, starring Lily James.

Based on Peter Heller’s bestselling 2012 post-apocalyptic novel, The Dog Stars features a screenplay by Mark L. Smith and Christopher Wilkinson. The film stars Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in popular series and films, alongside a cast that includes Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Josh Brolin (Dune), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), and Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange).
