A former child star from Nickelodeon, Kianna Underwood, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident in New York City on January 16, 2024. The 33-year-old actress, known for her roles in popular early 2000s shows such as All That and Little Bill, was struck by a vehicle while crossing Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood shortly before 7 a.m. EST.

The New York Police Department has confirmed that Kianna was fatally hit by an unidentified driver, who was operating a gray vehicle. After the collision, the driver fled the scene, leaving Kianna’s body on the street, as she was dragged for over two blocks. Emergency responders declared her dead at the scene due to severe trauma.

In a poignant Facebook post following the incident, Kianna’s father, Anthony Underwood, expressed his grief by comparing his daughter’s death to witnessing a fox being run over, lamenting the lack of compassion shown to her in her final moments. He wrote, “All I can think about is did anyone show my baby that same compassion, as someone ran her over like roadkill.”

Video footage obtained by the New York Daily News revealed the harrowing moment when Kianna was struck. Bystanders appeared unaware of the tragedy unfolding before them until several witnesses began recording the event on their phones.

Local residents have spoken fondly of Kianna, recalling her as the “Disney child star.” Sparkle Mathis, a local restaurant owner, noted, “We know her as the Disney child star. But the show is actually, I just found out today, Nickelodeon.” In a heart-wrenching account, a neighbor shared that Kianna’s boyfriend had urged her to stay home that morning, just moments before the fatal incident occurred.

Kianna Underwood’s career began with her appearance on the iconic Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, where she featured in seven episodes from 2004 to 2005. The show helped launch the careers of numerous stars, including Kenan Thompson and Amanda Bynes. Additionally, Kianna filled in for Jamie Lynn Spears during the show’s tenth and final season and voiced a character in the animated film Santa Baby!.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the search for the driver continues. The community mourns the loss of a talented actress whose light shone brightly during her youth. Kianna’s family has requested privacy as they process this devastating loss.
