Green Street Academy Celebrates 15 Years with Gala Fundraiser
On October 25, 2025, Green Street Academy marked its 15th anniversary with a vibrant gala titled “The Power of 15,” held at The Cove at Citron in Baltimore City. The event brought together 225 guests who enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with green-themed decorations and engaging activities, all aimed at celebrating the school’s achievements and future endeavors.
Dr. Denisha Logan, the school’s executive director and CEO, described the gala as a “charged-up family reunion, full of love and positive energy.” She expressed her gratitude for the presence of family, friends, and supporters who gathered to celebrate the school’s impact on West Baltimore. The evening raised approximately $40,000 to support the academy’s initiatives.
Activities and Entertainment Highlight the Evening
Guests were treated to a variety of entertaining activities throughout the venue. A performer on stilts, adorned with wings in the party’s signature green color, welcomed attendees and added a whimsical touch to the celebration. The event included creative stations such as a story and photo booth, as well as a flower bar where guests could assemble their own floral arrangements to take home.
Among the notable attendees were members of the Baltimore County Fire Department, including Tracey Johnson, fire marshal, and Marcus Johnson, assistant fire chief. They, along with many others, contributed to the warm atmosphere of camaraderie and community support.
The gala also featured a Caricature Corner, where guests could receive personalized drawings as mementos of the occasion. This interactive element highlighted the event’s festive spirit and encouraged social interaction among attendees.
Community Support and Future Aspirations
The strong turnout at the gala reflects the community’s commitment to Green Street Academy and its mission. Co-founders David Warnock and Larry Rivitz, along with other board members and volunteers, were present to celebrate the school’s accomplishments. The funds raised during the event will directly benefit the academy’s programs, ensuring its continued growth and success in the coming years.
The evening was not just about fundraising; it was a celebration of the strong ties between the school and the community it serves. As Dr. Logan remarked, the event showcased “what GSA has done and what we’re building for West Baltimore.”
The gala proved to be a memorable occasion, filled with laughter, joy, and a shared commitment to educational excellence. The community looks forward to what the next chapter holds for Green Street Academy, inspired by the connections fostered during this milestone celebration.
