Influencer Paul Kim Mourns the Loss of Son Micah at Age 5
Catholic influencer Paul Kim has confirmed the tragic passing of his five-year-old son, Micah Joseph, following a medical emergency that occurred just before the New Year. Kim announced the heartbreaking news on January 1, 2025, via his Instagram account, expressing his sorrow while also finding solace in his faith.
According to Kim, Micah died on December 31, 2024, and is now “basking in the never-ending glory, love, and peace of God.” The influencer stated that his son was already fulfilling a divine purpose, spreading love and faith to millions. “We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses that my son is now a part of,” he wrote, emphasizing his pride as a father even in the face of profound loss.
Kim first alerted his followers to Micah’s critical condition on December 21, when he revealed that his son was hospitalized and on life support after a medical emergency. In the days that followed, doctors gradually reduced life support, initially showing signs of improvement as Micah’s lungs began to recover. However, an MRI revealed severe brain damage, leading to an overwhelming sense of despair for the family.
Over the course of 11 days, Kim shared updates on social media, receiving an outpouring of support from thousands of followers and well-known figures, including Gwen Stefani and Jonathan Roumie from “The Chosen.” A GoFundMe campaign was initiated to assist the family with escalating medical expenses, and Kim expressed gratitude for the prayers and compassion shown to them during this challenging time.
“Your prayers for Micah were answered, but in a different way than what we had all hoped for,” he reflected on Instagram. “God healed and welcomed him into eternal life. He is where we all want to be.”
In an emotional video, Kim requested privacy for his family as they navigate their grief, stating, “After fighting 11 long hard days, Micah went home to the house of our father. We’re so proud of him.” He thanked his followers for their unwavering support, describing the ordeal as the hardest experience of his life.
Despite the tragedy, Kim affirmed his steadfast faith, assuring his followers that he believes his son now hears their prayers. “You can turn to my Saint Micah and ask for his prayers. His prayers are powerful,” he stated in a separate video message.
Kim, a father of six and an ambassador for Cross Catholic Outreach, concluded his message with a promise to pray for others, sharing his hope that his son’s spirit would continue to inspire and uplift those around him. The family’s experience emphasizes the power of community support and the profound impact of faith in times of sorrow.
