Mickey Rourke’s Manager Urges Actor to Accept Fans’ Support Amid Controversy

Mickey Rourke’s manager has urged the actor to accept help from fans despite his public denial of a recently launched GoFundMe campaign aimed at preventing his eviction. The fundraiser, which exceeded its goal of $100,000, comes after Rourke received a notice demanding $59,100 in back rent for his home in Los Angeles.

The campaign, titled Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction, was initiated by Liya-Joelle Jones, who is identified as an assistant to Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines. While Rourke has publicly disavowed the fundraiser, calling it “humiliating,” Hines insists that the initiative was set up to assist him during a challenging time.

In a video shared on Instagram, Rourke expressed his frustration, stating, “If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f***g charity.” He described the situation as ’embarrassing’ and claimed he had no understanding of what a GoFundMe was.

Hines spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, explaining that Rourke had been made aware of the fundraiser prior to its launch. “We said, ‘Mickey, there’s some people that want to help you out.’ He’s like, ‘Okay, great,'” Hines recalled. She emphasized that their intention was not to exploit Rourke but to provide him with support as he faced overwhelming inquiries from concerned fans.

As calls flooded in from around the world, Hines noted that Rourke became increasingly unsettled. “Everyone’s calling me from all over the world and asking if I need money. I don’t know what to do,” he reportedly told her. Hines has now encouraged Rourke to accept the help offered by those who care about him.

Despite the backlash, Jones defended the GoFundMe campaign, stating, “Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability.” She emphasized that Rourke deserves dignity and a stable living situation.

In a candid moment, Rourke, who referred to himself as “rich poor,” admitted to living paycheck to paycheck and acknowledged borrowing money from a close friend. He has urged his fans not to contribute to the GoFundMe initiative and requested that anyone who has donated seeks a refund, stating, “That’s not my style. I got too much pride.”
